PRESS RELEASE

TO ALL NEWS DIRECTORS

CLAY COUNTY FLORIDA

Clay County resident Mark Wilson has qualified through the petition method to run for Sheriff in Clay County in the upcoming August primary. Mr. Wilson is a native of Jacksonville and currently serves as a Deputy Sheriff in a neighboring county. Mark considers himself a constitutional conservative and believes everyone is entitled to equal representation and justice under the law without regard to their political affiliation. As a current law enforcement officer with training and experience as a Hostage Negotiator, Field Training Officer, K9 Handler and Honor Guard, he believes he has a well rounded and firm understanding of what communities are expecting from law enforcement of today. If elected as Sheriff he has said he intends to be a working leader who will dedicate a portion of his work week to performing the role of Sheriff alongside his deputies. “There’s a time to administrate and take care of the business at hand but there’s also a time when you need to get out of that office and do your job.” In addition to his professional qualifications, Mark is a husband and father of three children with another expected in August. Mark and his family attend New Grace Church and are proud to call Clay County home. A website is available for further information and links to his activities at: http://wilsonforsheriff2012.com

Do you fear your government?

Where the people fear the government you have tyranny. Where the government fears the people you have liberty. – Thomas Jefferson

Be very careful when electing leaders. Don’t blindly vote based on the (R) or (D). You need to know the candidate. Many Republicans and Democrats alike are simply fighting to stay in control of power. They do not care about you or your life. They say what you want to hear and play on your fears. If you are tired of watching history repeat itself every four years it’s time to put a stop to it and vote out every incumbent! If you think that by not choosing you’ve still made a choice you are wrong. Elections have consequences and this election on August 14th you will have a choice of many fine candidates for School board,
Clerk of Court, Sheriff, Congress and many more. A lot of us are newcomers to the field and we represent YOU…because we are common folk just like you who are tired of the politics as usual and intend to do something about it. Get out and vote this time..August 14th. Your fellow citizens are depending on all of us!

My Daily Walk

Everyone I meet inspires me to push on. Being a candidate with very few resources and nothing but the soles of my shoes to carry me is a difficult endeavor. I know that as God placed this on my heart to pursue this mission, I must and will carry on. Clay County depends on good men to lead the charge for the greater good. I am not going to burden you during this race with promises that you’re accustomed to hearing from every other candidate, pie in the sky statistics and numbers because they are generally unreliable and often skewed. I speak from the heart and I speak from experience. On August 14th I NEED YOU! Clay County NEEDS YOU! Your neighbors, family and friends NEED YOU to VOTE! You cannot sit back and let the same 26,000 people control your destiny and be your voice. Speak for yourself by going to the poll, voting early or voting absentee and VOTE WILSON FOR CLAY COUNTY SHERIFF!

Blessed are the peacemakers.

Inez and I attended the funeral services to pay our respect to Tim Brown Sr. this afternoon. Tim was a Deputy Sheriff for Putnam for many years and was running for Putnam County Sheriff. It was a wonderful service filled with lots of laughter. From the stories family and friends were telling about Tim it was clear he was exactly the kind of man who would have been a phenomenal Sheriff. Sadly Putnam County will not have been fortunate to have him as the Sheriff but they were lucky to have him as a true community servant. He was a real people person and just an all around nice guy. As a candidate myself I had followed his campaign on facebook and I am sad that I will not have the opportunity to share borders with him. Rest in peace sir, your work here on earth is done but those of us like-minded men will continue to battle on for the hearts and minds of those who need and seek our leadership. God Bless.

Another Florida Deputy, murdered in the line of duty

Deputy Barbara Pill BCSO – EOW 3/6/12

Another of our fellow “brothers” made the ultimate sacrifice. In this case she is one of our sisters, Barbara Pill. A wife, mother, grandmother and Deputy Sheriff in Brevard County. She served her community with honor. It goes to show that hatred of law enforcement knows no gender, no race, no creed. She was a courageous woman who served in law enforcement for 30 years. She was assassinated by a coward who had open warrants and multiple prior convictions for felonies including battery on a law enforcement officer. Now more than ever before, Sheriff’s must take a stand to keep these violent criminals of our streets and fight for tougher sentencing guidelines especially for repeat offenders.

It should outrage every man, woman and child in this country every time a peace officer is killed because WE who are sworn to protect and serve, represent the rights of EVERY citizen to be free and live peaceably. If the freedom defenders are targeted, it is a target on all of us and an affront to everything we stand for as Americans.

Rest in peace sister, we’ve got it from here. To my fellow LEOs….be safe!

Eliminating corruption came at a price.

“There have always been a few who have stood up for the many, often at times when the many would not stand for themselves. Whether out of fear, intimidation, or ignorance there have always been those who ride the victories and sacrifices of others, cheering and celebrating as if they dared to make a difference. Yes, even some who would minister to you about God’s power and the armor and shield that “the word” provides seem to falter in their convictions when it’s time to “step out on faith” and challenge the unrighteousness found in their workplace, community or government. What sacrifice are you willing to make for truth and righteousness? Are you leading a double life, speaking of injustices in whispers, while exclaiming all your faith in the creator? These are questions for self-examination. Are you willing to pick up the drum of justice? “THE TIME IS NOW!! PEACE”  -  Sheriff Elect Derwin Brown

Sheriff-Elect Brown was assassinated on orders from the man he was elected to replace as Sheriff.

The defendants and their co-conspirators committed the killing in exchange for benefits and promotions promised by Sheriff Dorsey.  WALKER, who already worked as a detention officer for DeKalb County, was promised a promotion and a desirable assignment.  RAMSEY, who was unemployed at the time of the murder, was promised a job at the Sheriff’s Office.  Both defendants had worked on Sheriff Dorsey’s re-election campaign and had previously worked for Dorsey at the sheriff’s private security firm.

In honor of Deputy David White

Our community lost a brave man in the line of duty. Deputy David White, a 9 year veteran of CCSO was killed by gunfire while on scene of a meth lab investigation last night. Sadly his wife, children and family lost a father, a husband and son. His co-workers will feel this loss for a long time and it will affect many of those who worked closely with him. Our entire community will mourn for the loss and it is my hope this county never forgets to honor his life and sacrifice. As a cop and “brother in arms”, sacrifice is something we all know and accept as a risk of the job we do. We enter into this profession, called to serve and hope to make it to retirement to enjoy the fruits of our labor yet in the back of our mind we always know, today I may not come home. I served on the Honor Guard for my Sheriff for several years and in my career, have attended more police funerals including that of two LEO’s and two PSA’s from my own agency. It is a sad and stark reminder of just how fragile life is. My family prays for the honor and memory of Deputy David White. Rest in peace brother, “we got if from here” and for the speedy recovery of Deputy Matt Hanlin. To all LEO’s…be safe!

The Final Inspection – A must read!

“The Final Inspection

The policeman stood and faced his God,
Which must always come to pass.
He hoped his shoes were shining.
Just as brightly as his brass.

Step forward now, policeman.
How shall I deal with you?

Have you always turned the other cheek?
To My church have you been true?”

The policeman squared his shoulders and said,
“No, Lord, I guess I ain’t,
Because those of us who carry badges
can’t always be a saint.

I‘ve had to work most Sundays,
and at times my talk was rough,
and sometimes I’ve been violent,
Because the streets are awfully tough.

But I never took a penny,
That wasn’t mine to keep….
Though I worked a lot of overtime
When the bills got just too steep.

And I never passed a cry for help,
Though at times I shook with fear.
And sometimes, God forgive me,
I’ve wept unmanly tears.

I know I don’t deserve a place
Among the people here.
They never wanted me around
Except to calm their fear.

If you’ve a place for me here,
Lord,
It needn’t be so grand.
I never expected or had too much,
But if you don’t…..I’ll understand.

There was silence all around the throne
Where the saints had often trod.
As the policeman waited quietly,
For the judgment of his God.

Step forward now, policeman,
You’ve borne your burdens well.
Come walk a beat on Heaven’s streets,
You’ve done your time in hell.”

All that is necessary for the triumph of evil, is for good men to do nothing. – Edmund Burke

This is a fundamental truth and a driving force behind my calling to enter law enforcement. Those sentiments are echoed in the actions and expectations of every law enforcement officer. Our heritage spans centuries and our mission is to safeguard those we serve, against tyranny and overarching attacks on our Constitutional rights. Men and women who are called to this mission field, do so with the heavy burden of upholding the reputations of many fine men and women before them who gave their lives in pursuit of this cause.
